Tiki Taxi and Cruises

Tiki Taxi and Cruises

We took a cruise aboard the Tiki Taxi on Saturday.

The Basics: The boat leaves on the hour per the schedule posted on their site. It costs $10 to board and that gets you on the boat for the rest of the day. The hourly excursions currently take you on a leisurely cruise from The Twisted Craft & Creamery, out to the end of the Manatee Pocket by Sandsprit Park and back.

They serve mixed drinks, beer, soft drinks, water and bags of chips.

The head is clean. They aim to please if you aim too, please.

We fell in love with the owners, Captain and crew. They're all professional, and very nice folks.

The music is lively and eclectic ranging from classic rock on the earlier trips and getting more modern as the night goes on. They will happily play requests, and there are plenty of personal flotation devices on board in case someone requests Metallica or Nickelback.

The atmosphere is fun. There's plenty of room to dance. We paid our $10 each and stayed out for three trips. Our fellow passengers on our excursions helped make it fun. (Y'all come back next time Max and crew do.) Everyone was having a good time. There were no altercations of any kind. In fact, we were having such a good time, we forgot to take pictures.

So, be sure to check out the gallery on their site.

We highly recommend Tiki Taxi and Cruises as a fun alternative to the usual land based establishments.

One last thing: Don't go too nuts, please. Do not hang from the rafters. Do not throw anything or anyone into the water. Stay out of the "engine room." Do not hinder the pilot's ability to navigate. Remember, you are aboard a marine vessel. The dance floor may move unexpectedly. If you somehow manage to sustain injury, odds are very most likely that you were doing something to cause it.

Max says, "This is about as much fun as ten bucks will legally get you these days."
