Ambergris Caye, Belize, Clear Water, Palm Trees and a Warm Breeze.

Howdy friends,

You know, Pearl and I don't get to travel much, but it sure is fun to look at the brochures and dream. Our taste tends toward the simple, peace and quiet of the less discovered, less commercialized locales, where the natives still outnumber the tourists, and the fare is prepared by the same old family recipes passed from generation to generation.

One of those somewhat undiscovered jewels is the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. Located on the northeast corner of Belize, just a stone's throw from exotic sounding spots like Chetumal, Quintana Roo, and a short hop to the Belize mainland, San Pedro is a place where time moves at a different pace. There are stretches of beautiful beaches being gently stroked by the clear, warm waters of the Caribbean Sea, where you can laze away the hours. And, if you need a little more excitement, the good people of San Pedro gladly provide recreational activities such as sightseeing boat tours, fishing, snorkeling, diving, sailing, and more. Oh, and don't forget to visit the manatees!

When you're ready to refresh yourself, there are restaurants and watering holes where their laid back, and friendly service is only matched by the original scratch made meals, and your favorite spirits.  (like Pearl's favorite,

Palapa Bar and Grill.)

The mainland, just a short boat or plane ride away, offers it's own unique adventures such as hikes through the tropical splendor and ancient Mayan ruins.

Yep, I have to say, the only downside to San Pedro is, that you won't want to leave.  If you make it down that way, tell 'em Max and Pearl send their love.  Maybe, we'll see you there.

This Jerry Jeff Walker song says it all.
