Sailors come in too many varieties to list. The only real requirement to qualify is some loose association past, present or future, with something that has sail[s]. Truth be told, if you tried to place all the different types of sailors on a linear scale, quite a few would just fall off, most of the rest would get lost and proclaim, "When you're sailing, the destination's not the point of the journey." Some sailors must have everything ship-shape, some are contented running with the stays a little loose and the sheets a bit frayed.  "Oh, that? Yeah, you gotta jiggle it a little bit.

Movie producers have an interesting take on sailors. Two of the most accurate, in this manatee's humble opinion, are Ted Knight's Judge Smails from 'Caddyshack':

There's the infamous Credit Card Captain whose place in history is indelibly carved here for eternity:

Then, of course, there's Kurt Russell's Captain Ron from, well.... 'Captain Ron':

Sail Magazine has this great article on Captain Ron:

I think many of us, sailors and not, tend to fall somewhere between Judge Smails and Captain Ron, still many other fall off the scale. They're the unsung heroes of this world, whose job it is to keep this place interesting for the rest of us.  Quirky is a good thing. (We sell it here... somewhere on our site, I just have to find it.... Hold on. I'll be right back..... Oh. I didn't know we had these. These are cool. But, oh, sorry...... I gotta get this place organized one of these days. What was it you were looking for, again?)

While I was stumbling through the internet looking for Captain Ron related things, I found this.

That's it from me today. Y'all don't forget to have fun.

I'm gonna leave you with this last video and a quote from another one of my heroes:
